A Great Opportunity to Own a Piece of BC Marine History!
Garry Garbutt has been designing, building and restoring boats for over 30 years. His biggest challenge has been the S. V. Sentinel, which is a unique piece of BC Marine Heritage. With a full condensing engine made in Victoria in the late 1800s, a hull manufactured in Vancouver in the 1960s and a boiler fabricated in Victoria in the 1980s, this truly is a "made in BC" vessel which has been expertly engineered by Garry.
During the 1980's, he designed and built power cruising catamarans at a time when the concept was relatively new. He has also restored a steam saw, a steam pump, and designed a small steam turbine generator.
He is also an electronics "wizard", having worked in the industry almost 40 years. He has had a life-long interest in the work of Nikola Tesla, and has contructed many working examples of Tesla's designs, including what is probably the largest Tesla Coil in Western Canada.
Garry is now selling his steam equipment as he wants to devote his time to some exciting, new projects.
If you are interested in purchasing any of this this machinery we would love to hear from you so that we can arrange for you to see it. Garry is also willing to train the new owner of the S. V. Sentinel in the art and science of steam boat operation.
